History of Monopoly
The Monopoly board game is the most commercially successful board game in the United States, as 485 million people play the game worldwide. Monopoly Slot has a way to go before it reaches those levels!
The game's origins begin in 1904, when Quaker Elizabeth Philips created the game to portray the negative aspects of private monopolies, in a game called The Landlords Game. This game was commercially published a few years later. However, it was a wide misconception that the game was actually invented by Charles Darrow and the Parker Brothers.
Throughout the game's history, new editions of the game have been introduced, such as games featuring local landmarks for areas such as Yorkshire in the UK. It has even been alleged that special editions of the game were created for Prisoners of War, which included real money, maps, compasses and equipment for escaping.

Monopoly has been played in various different situations. Some of the more quirky are listed:
- 1967- robbers played a game of monopoly with the $2 million they had taken from a train robbery. Bit harder when you want to play Monopoly Slot!
- For $600 in the 1970s you could have bought a to scale chocolate version of Monopoly- mmm delish! Could you get a whole chocolate game of Monopoly Slot? Probably not!
- In 1983 the Worcester Polytech Dive Club played Monopoly for two days inside Bostons New England Aquarium.
- Students of the University of Michigan painted an 8 x 8 monopoly board on their ceiling and used helium balloons as tokens

- Seven teenagers played Monopoly underground by digging a backyard cave in Colorado.
- Finally, the longest ever Monopoly game played was 1,680 hours, which was a total of 70 days. Could you play Monopoly Slot for that long?
